Healed of cancer

September 19, 2006

By Kay Crain

In March 2005 our oldest daughter, Priscilla Estes (36), had a malignant melanoma (10 mm in size) removed from the front of her shoulder. This tumor was more than twice the size of the type that usually indicates stage 4 cancer.

The doctor believed the melanoma had been there about 15 years in the spot where a mole had been removed. He also knew he did not get all of the melanoma and would have to remove more tissue. He believed Priscilla would need plastic surgery and warned that mobility in her left arm might be affected. (She is left handed and a pianist.)

Priscilla was then sent to an oncologist, and a series of tests were ordered. A CT scan showed a lot of small spots in her neck and chin that caused concern. The spot under her chin was removed and came back clear of cancer. All the other tests came back negative as well.

The doctor went back to the area of the original tumor and removed several lymph nodes. These also came back clear. No further surgery was needed and no plastic surgery.

That Priscilla remained cancer free is a miracle, given the size of the original melanoma, the time it had been in her body, and the fact it should have released cancer into her bloodstream. She shouldn’t even be here.

Prayer does work and miracles do still happen in the name of Jesus.
