Hero, Groom, King

October 26, 2006

By Gary Rogers

Our church has had a Wednesday night series on end-time events. People were very hungry for God’s Word. One thought shared dealt with the three major entrances of Jesus coming to earth.

He came as a HERO on a rescue mission. Jesus said He came to “seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10, NKJV). He “did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28).

He will come as a GROOM claiming His bride. The Parable of the Marriage Feast illustrated the special union of Jesus and His church (Matthew 22:1-14). The Parable of the Ten Virgins illustrated the necessity of being ready for the Groom when He returns for His bride (Matthew 25:1-13).

He will come as a KING leading His army. Jesus will return with the armies of heaven and destroy His enemies (Revelation 19:11-21). Jesus will stand on the Mount of Olives and the mountain will split to prepare a way for the King to enter His city in which He will be worshipped (Zechariah 14:4).

In understanding Bible prophecy it is critical we understand Jesus has come and He is coming back! His entrance has been announced and we must respond to Him. If we respond to Him as HERO then we will also delight in responding to Him as returning GROOM. If we don’t respond to Him as HERO then we will shudder with fear in responding to Him as conquering KING.
