Set for life

Chrysta was feeling guilty; like the typical college student she needed more money. She recounted her spending at daddy’s expense; $50 gas and toll money to come home, $15 for lunch with Great-grandma, $8 for laundry soap and shampoo, and to top it off another $50 to pay for gas and tolls on the way back to school.

Yet when you add it all up, having our girl home for spring break is, as MasterCard says, “Priceless!”

David understood something else money could not buy, of greater value than anything this world could offer. David knew it was not his position as king or the wealth he had accumulated that brought him satisfaction. David’s greatest joy was found in God’s love for him.

“God, the one and only —
I’ll wait as long as he says.
Everything I need comes from him,
so why not?
He’s solid rock under my feet,
breathing room for my soul,
An impregnable castle:
I’m set for life.”
(Psalm 62:1,2, The Message)

When you have discovered the reality of God’s faithful provision, it’s not a problem to wait upon Him to provide. God has met me at the point of every need, opened the storehouse of His limitless supply and reached in to give me exactly what I needed. And His provision is never late; God meets every need and I lack for nothing.

With God as our ultimate Source we, like David, stand safe and secure upon an immovable Rock. No shifting sands or slippery slopes; I can stand without fear of falling. My heart can rest secure knowing God cares for me; He is my peace, my reason for singing. Yes, with God as my loving Heavenly Father, “I’m set for life!”

Have you discovered God’s abundant supply for yourself? Perhaps you have fallen to one of two extremes — believing you can make it on your own, or feeling guilty asking God for help again.

God wants us to be like David, to know everything lovingly comes from God. Now that’s priceless!
