God’s Amazing Love … for You

God’s love for you can never be overemphasized. He loved you
so much He gave His Son to die for your sins. He continues to love you so much
that nothing can separate you from that love. His love is so perfect and so
complete that Scripture tells us, “God is love” (1 John 4:8,16).
God is the very essence of love. God is the precise
definition of love. God is the personification of love. You should never
minimize God’s love by allowing insecurity, condemnation or the feeling of
unworthiness to become a barrier between you and His love.
Isaiah 62:4 gives us a word picture to visualize God’s love. “You shall no
longer be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; but
you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD delights in
you, and your land shall be married” (NIV).
Hephzibah means, “My delight is in her.” Beulah means,
“married.” In God’s expressing His love for Israel we hear His heart speak
concerning His love for the church today. We are the adopted children of
Abraham. The love God had and still has for Israel and the church is seen in
Isaiah’s powerful expressions. We were “forsaken.” We were lost in sin without
hope. We were forsaken as a result of our rebellion and defiance of God. But
when Jesus washed us clean of our sins we then became “God’s delight.”
God looks at us seeing not our faults and failures, but the
clean, pure accepted believer in whom He delights. We were “desolate.” We were
isolated from experiencing true life. We existed in a life void of peace, joy
and meaning. Now as believers, we are called “married.” We have a special
relationship with God. This relationship gives anticipation for the future.
This relationship thrives with excitement, joy and discovery.
How wonderful is the love of God! It is truly amazing to live in the intimacy
of a personal relationship with Him. It is such a blessing to be His delight
and understand the special marriage we have with Him.
