Saved from a crushing blow

By Tito Abel

On Saturday, October 16, 2004, I was working on a large cleaning project in our building’s dust-control system. A co-worker and I were using forklifts and ropes to move long and heavy pipes.

While we were working, a 300-pound pipe fell onto my right foot. I was taken to the hospital. At first, the swelling was so bad they could not tell if the foot was broken or if I had ligament damage. But the final report indicated no broken bones or ligament damage. When the doctors saw pictures of the pipe they were amazed that the injury was not worse.

I know the Lord must have softened the blow of that pipe to my foot. It could have been much worse. I praise the Lord for His care for me. The real miracle, I believe, took place when my wife got word of the accident and began to pray and enlisted others to join her.

I can truly say, “Praise God, prayer really works.”

Tito Abel attends Central Assembly of God in Bethlehem, Pa. (Stephen A. Roser, pastor).
