Proclaim His Birth!

December 21, 2007

By Dorothy Rugg

"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14, NIV).

Christmastime is such a wonderful opportunity for us to share the love of Christ with those around us. Throughout this season we can look for opportunities to plant seeds of hope in the lives of those who may be discouraged, lonely, afraid or sick in body and soul. We can share the gospel message of how much God loves us, the joy that comes from receiving the good news.

When we look at the Christmas message in Luke 2 we can see people just like us. They were going through struggles and hard times. Yet in the midst of their life turmoil there was hope, hope that God was taking care and making a way where there seemed not to be a way.

We have this hope today -- the assurance we are not alone, that we can have peace in the midst of storms, that a Savior was born for us!

Luke 2:19 tells us Mary treasured all the things she had been told and had observed and pondered them in her heart. We need to do the same today. We should ponder the wonder of Jesus, meditate on the truth written to us through the Word, consider carefully all that Christ has done for us.

And we should all remember the real reason He came -- to become our sacrifice so that we the guilty could go free.

We are not just invited to accept Jesus as our Savior. We are commanded to proclaim the truth to those around us this Christmas season.
