God Is There

There are times when friends have been unreachable. With the
number of people I could call at any given time for help, it seems unlikely and
rather strange that I could ever feel alone. This is reality though; there is
nobody I could reach 24/7 for help … at some point everyone must sleep, go to
work, be at school, away on vacation, any number of things. In those moments,
when reaching out to another person is impossible, only one things remains.
God.
In a world where people are constantly flying in and out of
my life, in a world where people have enough problems of their own and me
adding to their list won’t solve anything, there is God. He is with me always
and is always reachable.
There are moments in my life when I am trapped by reality,
unable to escape what is going on. I have nowhere I can go, no one else I can
talk to. In those moments, it makes it easy to fall even deeper into despair,
to feel even more alone and outcast.
But God is there.
He is simply waiting for me to start talking to Him. He
wants me to trust Him enough to open my soul and talk to Him honestly, tell Him
what is really going on. He knows my flaws. He knows I'm not always sweet. He
wants me to know those flaws cannot keep me from coming to Him, from starting a
relationship with Him.
It’s the most effortless thing in the world to say, “Well,
God isn’t doing anything in my life, so I guess He’s not here.” Open your eyes,
try to see past your pain and realize God is always there, always has been.
He’s just waiting on you to make the move to reach out to Him and ask Him for
help.
Will you?
"I lift up my eyes to the hills -- where does my help come from? My help
comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth" (Psalm 121:1,2, NIV).
The Bible makes it pretty clear; we cannot look to people
our entire lives to help us through everything; some things will happen to us
that no person is capable of fixing. Yes, there are many things that can be
fixed by people. Who knows, you may be able to get through life and all its
challenges by relying completely on yourself and other people. God may never
even enter your thoughts during your times of pain.
However, there is still the question of that hole in your
heart.
We all need hope, and we're all searching for what hope
brings: comfort, peace, security, strength. Compared to the hope found in God,
the hope we find from other manmade sources is immeasurably small and
unreliable. You could be in a lot of pain right now or you could be having the
best day of your life. Either way, call out to God and ask Him to fill you with
hope and believe He is by your side 24/7.
God is there.
